Cool-Tools was created to bring a carefully selected range of database monitoring, management subsetting and masking products to the UK relational database marketplace. The simple rationale behind our portfolio is that our tools must be easy to install, flexible in their deployment and intuitive to use.
With over 30 years IT industry experience specialising in database performance and security, Cool Tools brings a wealth of experience to the IT Infrastructre environment and list household names as everyday users of our products.
The products which Cool Tools focuses upon are distinct - Database Performance / Management and Database Subsetting / Masking. Each can be considered as intertwined.
Managing production server performance and alerting when things go wrong is critical to IT departments in achieving (and proving that they are achieving) Service Level Agreements in support of the business.
Development, testing and training servers fall into the same category in that you must also treat these team members as customers as well. If they can’t do their job, then projects will fall behind and you end up degrading the business plans for better customer service and therefore profitability.
These latter domains also provide an added management challenge. There are generally at least 3 mirror copies of the database for each live domain - and very often I’ve seen 10-20 as standard. This leads to resource contention of the highest order. There is a burning desire to simply upgrade hardware (primarily disk space) to accommodate this but there is then a knock-on effect. This resource needs to be managed!!!!
We also face a security challenge. Do we let everyone see production data? Are we constrained by legislation (for instance the Data Protection Act, Sarbanes Oxley…?).
These are the items you will find on this site. If you have any questions, or would like further information on any of the Cool Tools products, don’t hesitate to contact us.
